THE BIG THREE (blog #1)

For the the most part, I want to use the blog as a platform for discussion artists and their work. It work as either a more in depth than our classroom discussion or to look at artists that aren't address in the lecture or book. This week I want you to become familiar with the "super star" artists Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock , and Andy Warhol. You probably have even already seen a lot of their work and didn't realize it. Watch the first episode of the series " This is modern Art"  (it is boken into segments on youtube) Select one of the super stars that interested you the most, look up more of thier work online and come up with a response to their art. Keep the posts to a minimum of 100-150 words.

  2. Any personal feelings or ideas you have about the artist and their work. Or anything that it makes you think of. Could be some other art that relates or personal connection or even just why or why you don't like it.

  4. I guess my favor artist was Andy Warhol out of the three that we were given. I liked the way that he displayed color and how you could tell what everything actually was. Why is it that most artist had some kind of mental problem or addiction before they could create something. Warhol could take something that we look at everyday at a glance paint it then make use really look at it. Art was not my favor subject I though of it to be boring but now I can see how the artist put there feeling in there work. Art can be anything.

    1. Good start here, but I want you to go a little deeper. You said that he made you look at something common and everyday in a new way, but how. Be specific to prove your point. Also make sure you creating a new post instead on commenting.

    1. Good question to start your post with, but where's the rest? Why do you think he used these colors? How are they more effective or eye catching? Interesting that he used to work as a fashion illustrator. Give me more! Also try publish a post rather than doing the homework as a comment, its easier for me to find.

  6. I chose Pablo Picasso because his work and himself was aknowledged as the as one of the most influential artists of the century. 'Penguin Dictionary of Art an Artists' ends one of their articles about Picasso like this 'No man has changed more radically the nature of art. He stands at the beginning of a new epoch. Most museums of modern art throughout the world have examples of his work'. If you look at the painting "Three Musicians" he show cases his skills of synthetic cubism which is using cubed shaped figures to identify his image that he wanted to portray.

  7. My favorite out of the three would be Pablo Picaso because he drew a lot of pictures about actually things. Like people, animals and he drew them with different expressions. There were some with close and without and he also drew things that were not common. That’s what I like the most about him. He never cared what anybody thought about it.

  9. I went back and really looked at the big three and I and still impressed with Andy Warhol painting. I really like the color that he uses in painting they are more representational, he uses more words and images in his work. His attitude was that he didn't care what people thought of his work, i guess that is why I like his work he could take some simple and make it wonderful to the eye if people would just look closely at his work. Then he would take something like a skull and paint it in different colors to give it different meaning to it. It strange that what one might say is trash and someone else would say its a work of art.
